Due to cooperations with Nokia, several DCs, and Pervasive 2010 I visited Finland a couple of times in recent years. Cities I visited so far include Oulu, Tampere, and Helsinki.
oulu
Located north of the polar circle, it may get pretty chilly here. It's mainly a student town without any major attractions.
tampere
I visited Tampere in February 2010 when temperatures were around -25°C. A good time for some Sauna and cool down in the snow ;-)
helsinki
The capital and largest city of Helsinki offers also the most things to see. Here a random selection.
- Helsinki Cathedral:
The sign of Helsinki is located in the city center, next to the main building of the University of Helsinki.
- Cholera Basin:
Location aboard the water, the Cholera Basin is starting point for tours into the archipelago. Next to the Cholera Basin is the market square and Uspenski Orthodox cathedral.
- Archipelago and Fortress of Finland:
Take a boat tour through the harbor and archipelago until you reach the Fortress of Finland, guarding the only entrance to Helsinki from the open sea.
- Hotel:
My insider tip is the Glo, a designer hotel with reasonably priced rooms in the very center of Helsinki.
