teaching

University of Duisburg-Essen, Old Building Essen

This section of the page describes my current and previous teaching activity as a research associate at the University of Duisburg-Essen. These include courses I run at the University of Duisburg-Essen as well as student's theses I am supervising.

exercises

My main teaching activity includes preparing assignments, discussing them with students, and correction the submissions. The purpose of those assignments is to practically apply the content from the lectures offered by our chair.

seminars

In our seminars, students learn how to work scientifically and how to publish the results in an appropriate way. I supervise students in the Hauptseminar where we show them the whole process of writing a scientific paper, starting from literature research, writing and submitting the paper and reviewing the contributions of all participating students. Finally we run a conference day with other universities where students present their work.

Further I organize the Oberseminar, a course where our undergraduates present their theses. We try to give them advice during there work and comment on their final solutions. Further we use the course to present our scientific work to the students and as a training for the presentation on conferences.

theses

Finally, a very interesting part of my teaching is supervising student's theses. While we offer various topics related to our research and areas of interest, students can also come up with their own topics. We always try to offer practical and research-related topics and hope to publish papers together with the students on international top conferences based on their work.
