In 2004 I got the chance as an undergraduate student to work as an intern for Pinnacle Systems Inc. in Silicon Valley. Since that time I travel around a lot, mainly related to my job. This part of the page is dedicated to all the cities I have been working or living in for at least 6 month during the past years.

In winter 2004 I applied for an internship at the US company Pinnacle Systems Inc., located in Mountain View, California. When I finally got the position I had 6 weeks to take care of getting the visa and relocating to San Francisco. The following 9 month were probably the most exciting one in my life - not only because of the work, but also because of all the new friends I made and still have contact with today and the awesome trips through the National Parks and cities of the west.

Back in Munich I started another internship at the Klinikum rechts der Isar and wrote a project thesis on the topic Implicit Annotations and Self-Explanatory Medical Images. In fall / winter 2006 I passed my final exams at the University of Munich.

In February 2007 it was time to move again. Albrecht Schmidt whom I worked already with in Munich offered me a position in the User Interface Engineering Group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems in Sankt Augustin, Bonn. During the following 6 months I completed my master thesis with the title An Annotation Platform for the World Wide Web. By the time I finished my thesis I got an offer from Albrecht Schmidt to join his Pervasive Computing Group at the University of Duisburg-Essen as a PhD student from spring 2008.

Since there was almost half a year in between, I took another job offer from the Schreiner Group in Munich whom I had worked with in the past 5 years as a student trainee. They planned to setup a manufacturing site in North America and needed a specialist to manage the IT. So I moved to New York and worked for Schreiner MediPharm L.P. in Blauvelt before finally coming back to Germany in March 2008.

In april I finally moved to Düsseldorf into a shared apartment with my friend Ali whom I met a year earlier in Bonn and started my PhD at the University of Duisburg-Essen. I'm having a great time working in this group with all my wonderful colleagues. Yet, the next internship will come for sure...
