COEX Center at Night, Seoul

In the easter week 2009 we went on a 4-day trip to Belgium and visited the following cities: Brugge, Gent, Antwerp, and Brussels.

brugge

Brugge is a beautiful town, located some miles south of Belgium's Atlantic coast. There are many things to do and see - yet one day was enough without getting into a hurry. Here are some of the sights we visited and the link to our beautiful hotel, which was situated in walking distance to the city center.

  • Stadthuis, Market Place, Belfort:
The Market Place is the center of Brügge. Here one can find numerous restaurants, the Stadthuis and the Belfort (which you can climb to get an overview of the city). Unfortunately there is no balcony or platform on top but only some windows which are secured by a grid.
  • Begijnhof:
Don't miss the beautiful Begijnhof in the south-west of the city.'

gent

Gent is a nice student town with lots of churches, a nice old city, and beautiful shops. We just enjoyed walking around the old town and trying some poffertjes. Go to the Graslei, probably the most scenic spot in Gent.

antwerp

Antwerp is the diamond capital of the world. Don't miss the diamond museum and the huge shopping area with lots of shops and restaurants in around the old church.

  • Diamond Museum:
Visit the diamond museum and learn everything about this fascinating stone.
  • Grote Markt:
Visit the Grote Markt and enjoy one of the nice restaurants around. Don't miss the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal and the Statue of Brabo and the giant's hand (which gave the city its name).
  • Park Inn:
The Park Inn is situated directly at Antwerp station. It has nice, completely new rooms (as o spring 2009) and a great breakfast buffet. The old town is a 20 minutes walk, the diamond museum is next door.

brussels

The "capital" of the European Union has the flair of Paris - yet it is much more handsome, has lots of chocolatiers, waffle shops and also sights.
